We are seeking a dynamic, high-caliber and creative engineering professional to join our multi-disciplinary team. We specialize in mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, automation and energy engineering services for industrial, commercial, and private sector markets. We offer the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects that require creative thinking and problem solving.
The successful candidate will have 5- 10 + years of relative project design experience and have or be eligible for the Professional Engineers of Ontario designation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers to innovate and deliver effective solutions.
- Demonstrate strong technical prowess and adept problem-solving skills in tackling complex engineering challenges.
- Lead a structural design team comprising Professional Engineers, designers, and support staff.
- Cultivate new business relationships with prospective clients.
- Provide mentorship to EITs as needed.
- Utilize drafting and design skills, with proficiency in 3D modeling as an advantage.
- Preferred experience in mine infrastructure design.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Codes, Standards, and Regulations, securing design adequacy for permits and approved plans.
- Innovate and advance techniques and concepts in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design deliverables including calculations, layouts, sketches, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive design calculations and analyses for steel and concrete structures/foundations using engineering software.
- Coordinate structural efforts with other engineering disciplines.
- Conduct design review or verification of technical documents prepared by peers.
- Uphold quality and consistency, ensuring accuracy and completeness of engineering deliverables.
- Adhere to applicable QA procedures to ensure high-quality output.
- Conduct structural inspections and prepare detailed inspection reports for diverse structures in mining, industrial, and commercial settings.
- Project management responsibilities, ensuring timely and within-budget project delivery.
Candidate Requirements:
- Registered Professional Engineer in good standing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5 to 10+ years of experience in structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Thorough familiarity with Canadian and International Codes and standards applicable to Civil/Structural engineering.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required, contingent upon project/client needs.
- Self-motivated with a drive to contribute to and grow within the Black Rock Engineering team.
